Word Tip – Reorganise Table Rows

When you have typed up your Word table and realised that you have put the contents in the wrong order, there is a quick keyboard method to move a whole row of data up and down the table with ease…

  • All you need to do is select the row in your table that needs to be moved. In the example below, we have selected the second row:

  • Press SHIFT ALT and either the Up or Down on your keyboard

  • In our example, all the data in the second row has moved down to become the third row

  • Continue to press SHIFT ALT and either the Up or Down on your keyboard to move the data further down or up the table

  • You can even start a new table by moving a row out of a table if you continue to press SHIFT ALT and either the Up or Down on your keyboard:

  • So never worry about the order you type your data in a Word table, as you can very quickly reorganise the rows with just three keys on your keyboard!
