You may already be aware of the Autofill function where you can hover your mouse over the bottom right corner of a cell (your mouse changes to a thin black cross + ) and click and drag to copy data or formulas into the cells below.
This is not too onerous if you only have a screen of cells to copy to but what if your spreadsheet goes down 100,000 rows. As long as there are no blank rows you can double click and Excel will populate to the last row in the spreadsheet.
