This session is designed for those who wish to acquire the basic skills to use Excel effectively. It would benefit anyone wishing to learn the basics of creating spreadsheets.
Learn to become an effective user of Excel and to get the best out of your data with this session. You’ll learn how to create different types of calculations using formulae and functions and how to fix or leave them moveable.
Unlike other apps such as Word, what you see on the screen doesn’t necessarily mean it will print out the same. In this session we look at everything to do with setting up your spreadsheets for printing, as well as different views and settings to help when working with larger spreadsheets.
Cells are usually referred to by their cell reference, e.g. A1, B7. However, it can sometimes make more sense to give a cell or cells a name. In this session we look at how naming cells makes formulae a lot clearer as well as making it a lot easier when selecting cells, moving around a worksheet and printing.

Deciding which data to chart needs careful thought as it is easy to produce charts which really mean very little and not what you intended at all. In this session you’ll learn about the variety of charts and sparklines available in Excel and how to format and customise them.
The PivotTable feature is one of the most sophisticated components in Excel and can be described as a dynamic summary report generated from a database. In this session you’ll learn how to use PivotTables to manipulate data, large or small in size and transform it into a meaningful presentation of data.
This session will teach you the process of Conditional Formatting, i.e. formatting cells based on a set condition (rule). When the condition in the cell is met, the cell takes on a specific pre-defined format, which makes Conditional Formatting a good way of visualizing Excel data.
Spreadsheets containing dates are popular and quite often calculations will need to be performed using dates. In this session will we look at automating formulae using various date & time functions.
This sessions teaches you how to use the VLOOKUP function to find a value in an Excel list or table. Using VLOOKUP is similar to looking up a person’s name in a telephone book to get a telephone number. VLOOKUP looks at a value in one column and finds its corresponding value on the same row in another column.

In this session we look at how to import data into Excel from external sources and the tools available to help “clean up” the data.
In this session we look at how to control and restrict data being entered into an Excel list using Data Validation. We will also look at how to locate and fix errors in a worksheet by using the formula auditing tools.
