Conditional Formatting is the process of formatting cells based on a set condition (rule). Thus when the condition in the cell is met, the cell takes on a specific pre-defined format. This makes Conditional Formatting a good way of visualising Excel data.
This session is designed for users who are familiar with using Excel and are able to create, edit and print Excel spreadsheets.
Range Names can be used to represent specific cells or ranges of cells, to make referencing them more accurate. Named cells/cell ranges are Absolute by default. Any cell in a worksheet can be named and that name used as a reference in formulas. For example: refer to a cell as VAT instead of B4. Once a name is set up in a workbook, it can be easily updated and managed.
This session is designed for users who are familiar with using Excel and are able to create to create basic formulae, and Absolute Cell Referencing.
Excel LOOKUP functions search for a value located in the original table and returns a required value from a column or row of another table that you specify. The VLOOKUP function can also incorporate other Excel functions such as IF and MATCH to increase its calculating capability.
This session is designed for users who are confident creating Absolute References formulas and range names, and using the IF Function.
The PivotTable feature is one of the most sophisticated components in Excel and can be described as a dynamic summary report generated from a database. The reason for using the PivotTable feature is to manipulate data, large or small in size and transform it into a meaningful presentation of data.
This session is designed for users who are very confident creating range of data or Table data, Sorting and Filtering data, and using Functions such as, SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, and COUNT.
Deciding what data to chart needs careful thought as it is easy to produce charts which really mean very little and not what you intended at all. Excel offers a wide variety of charting options both in two and three dimensional formats. Charts can also be easily formatted or customised as required.
A Sparkline is a small chart displaying one series of data in a single cell. It can be used to show trends in your data such as minimum and maximum values.
